Camp Kaitawa 2017

This year, the year 5 and 6 students went to Camp Kaitawa for a whole week. It was really fun, we did lots of activities like Masterchef, fear factor, kayaking, tramping and lots more. We went to look at Micheal Noonans (A messenger for England who died carrying a package)  👻 grave and we saw his boot that is not always there.

On Monday, we went kayaking in Lake Wherowhero and tubing, we went rock hopping. I was in the second fast group, I almost fell in the water, I scratched my leg but it was worth it because that was extreme fun, for dinner we had pasta, it was delicious.

On Tuesday, when we got back from Lake Waikareiti we played handball and did lots of other stuff, like we had a Milo, we played board games and made toy cars and then for dinner we had chicken and it was yummy.

On Wednesday we did Master chef, we made pancakes, they were delicious. I flipped some and it was awesome. Matt got a slomo video of one, my face was so funny.  We got a 3 from Judge da meany Bevan and a 4 from kind Kelly then we got to eat ours, they were delicious.  After that we had a play, I smashed up in handball by the way because if you didn't know I'm a bit of a "pro"   We then did lunch which was meatballs with chips on the side, it was delicious and our final score was 14.

The most fun thing was when we went to look at Micheal Noonans grave. We went to the lake and did some bombs, and then the people that wanted got to go to a rock and slide down it, it was so fun. I tried climbing up the other way and thought I was going to slip, but then looked up and saw Gwen's hand.

The scariest thing was caving with the wetas they were huge, I saw one that was about the size of my hand,  I was so scared.

There was also the fear factor, my first one was a prune, I gave it a ten out of ten, then my second was a sour cream and chives chip and a pickle but the worst of all was a rotten bean, I gave it two out of ten.

The funniest thing was the pudding challenge, where we had to eat it without a peep or we took it up to the bench, and then Jasmine giggled and then took her bowl up, then she laughed again, about 1 minute later Miss Hill gave Jasmine her pudding and said "What do you say?"  Jasmine said "thank you," then Ruby started to laugh too and Sage, then all of a sudden everyone was laughing so I just started chomping it down.

Sea Otter

My Creature is a Sea Otter
Some things I needed to consider about my creature:  It needs space to swim because they love swimming. It to be closed off so no humans can get to them.
My enclosure has these special features for my pet:
A waterfall that makes a current in the water. A Beach with rocks so crabs can hide in there and the sea otters can find them and eat them.
What I am pleased about:
My water waterfall because I didn’t think it would work that well but it turned out pretty good. I needed to use my planing muscle so I could plan smart and then  it would be a safe environment.
What I have found tricky:
Sticking it together (especially when we ran out of hot glue gun sticks) because it kept falling apart.
What I would like to improve:
I need to use my time wisely.

super rugby poem

I see
I smell
I hear
I feel
I taste
I think

I see crusaders hustling forwards to tackle me.
I smell sweat from the players and the hot chips in the crowd.
I hear  whisltes blowing everywhere
I feel   I’m so nervous I feel like I’m about to vomit
I taste victory coming to us

I think I’m going to win
